Helambu, situated about 72 kilometers north- east of Kathmandu, is famous for its scenic grandeur and pleasant climate. It extends from north of Taramarang to the tree limit of the Gosainkunda Lake and lower slopes of Jugal Himal, scattered on both sides of the Malemchi Khola. Helambu is famous for its sweet apples. Helambu is great for short treks,the company of green rhododendron and bamboo forests, majestic waterfalls, and snow-capped Himalayas make the trek one of most diverse treks near Kathmandu. The great Himalayan peaks staying as a border between the Himalayan kingdom of Nepal and the roof of the world; Tibet is enchanting. The trekkers come in contact with temperate forests, snowy peaks which give the feeling of heaven. Helambu was once considered a hidden, sacred domain and its misty ridges and fertile valleys are still comparatively isolated. The peaks of Langtang Himal are clearly visible from the area. The people living the highlands of the Langtang region are certainly the Nepalis, being the descendant of the Tibetan origin, they still look like Tibetans.

It is inhabited by the Hyolmo(Sherpa) and Tamang tribe of people in the upper section. It provides typical glimpse of life in the village of Nepal. The Tamang and Sherpa villages of Helambu present an easy getaway. The rib-roaring cliffy trials throb and thrill you; and the local flocks in their cultural attire give you a sense of distinctly different world. An absolutely diverse and wonderful experience.
