Madurai(1 night): Madurai is Tamil-born and Tamil-rooted, one of the oldest cities in India, a metropolis that traded with ancient Rome and was a great capital long before Chennai. Visit The Rock Fort, the temples of Ganapati and Shiva. Thereafter visit the Grand Ranganatha Swami Temple on the island of Srirangam, Grand Meenakshi-Sundareshwara Temple, Meenakshi Temple and the Tirumalaya Nayak.
Periyar(1 night): Proceed for a boat cruise on the Lake Periyar to view wild animals which come to the lake.

The next morning, made breakfast, and proceeds to go sightseeing, visit Arjuna’s Penance – Nothing can prepare the wonder of these bas-reliefs. The exquisite detail, dated to the 7th century, describes the flow of the Ganges down from the Himalayan mountains as well as scenes of Indian daily life, The Five Rathas – You will not believe that these shrines are carved the whole of a rock outcrop. In the morning we proceed for the sightseeing tour of Tanjore. Visit the Temple of Sri. Brihadeshwara, this magnificent temple, more than 1000 years and is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, evokes the power of the kings of Chola as it towers over the entire city. You can see detail entries that describe the life of the temple and the dancers, musicians, potters, goldsmiths and the astrologers who have lived there. You enter the pavilion in the main courtyard to observe the statue of Nandi black, one of the largest of the ‘India with its 25 tons of weight. Proceed towards the Palace of Tanjore & Museum. The Palace is a large hotel of remarkable architecture built around 1550 AD. The Royal museum displays many items of kings who have ruled – the clothes, hunting weapons, gear heads and many more.

We will move to Madurai, in Tamilnadu, one of the most famous temple city of the entire South India, thanks to the very celebrated Meenakshi Temple. Upon arrival check in at the hotel. Orientation tour of this fascinating city on a comfortable rickshaws, through the maze of streets and local markets. Stop at the Gandhi Museum, symbol of the struggle for the freedom of ‘India.
07 DAY: MADURAI – PERIYAR (140 KM / 4 HOURS) [B / – / -]
In the morning visit of the Meenakshi temple which is dedicated to Lord Shiva and Goddess Meenakshi. Designed in 1560 by Vishwanatha Nayak, the present temple was built during the reign of Thirumalai Nayak from 1623 to 1655 AD, but its history goes back to 2000 years, when Madurai was the capital of Pandya Kings. There are four entrances to the temple and 12 towers from 45m to 50m. The temple is famous for its hall of 1000 pillars. Stop to admire the Palace of Thirumalai Nayak of the 17th century.
Check out around Noon at the time of Periyar, an area known for its undulating hills, spice plantations, and elephant sightings to be the oldest reserve for the Tigers, including all 27 in India. Check in at the hotel.
