Rafting in Sunkoshi River, We travel by surface to Dolalghat your raft put-in-point covering the distance of 57kms in about 3 hrs. Your excitement starts and ends only after you covered 210kms of wild stretches, calm flows through high rock strewn passages eventually emerging from the mountains to the flat plains of southern Nepal. Mr. Mangal Gurung was the first rafter to successfully take rafts in 1979 and he has the distinction of being the 1st Nepali to raft the Sunkoshi. Sun Koshi river rafting/kayaking classic river trip is famous for being one of the top ten river journeys in the world. During rafting you will be encounter by big rapes, warm water, beautiful scenery and great camping makes this is a classic multi-day river trip. You will be navigated through famous numerous exciting rapids as the name of Meat Grinder, Harkapur, Big Dipper, Jaws, Dead man’s eddy, Jungle Corridor, Rhino rock, Roller Coaster truly challenging for everyone. There are no roads or towns, just the occasional picturesque village and friendly shouts, the bank -this is unspoiled, rural Nepal at its best.

Sunkoshi River Rafting

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu
Meeting at airport upon arrival by Plan Holidays Personnel. We will pick up from airport and then escort you to your hotel in Kathmandu. During the driving of half an hour, enjoy the heart-stopping views along the Kathmandu city. After arrival at your hotel, the rest of the day is free for you to explore the local area, overnight at Hotel.

Day 02: Kathmandu -Dolalghat
Transfer to Dolalghat, it take 3hrs drive to reach there; rafting starting point. our you will give a full safety briefing, then we hit the first major rapid ; class 4-it’s a fairly straight run down the center, avoiding holes left and right. A few meters below here the Tama Koshi River joins in the Sunkoshi from the left.

Day 03: Tarang Gaon Dumja
4 hours the gathered villagers shall cheer you as you drift away slowly gathering momentum, slowly leaving behind the Langtang ranges. Soon we hit the very technical rapid called Khuei Bhai rapid, strewn with rocks and boulders, hence, considerable care is need. Camp for the overnight.

Day 04: Dumja village – Khunkot (6 hours)
Today we are hitting the rapids passing en route the fishing village of Kodaris and the Chamera Bhir were you see hundreds of bats screaming and clinging to the walls of the cliffs, some good fun filled rapids takes up to Khunkot where we camp for the night.

Day 05-06: Khurkot -Likhu Khola – Harkapur (10 hrs)
We take a Breakfast and start rafting dwindle, few poor Rai villages en route, exciting rapids in the afternoon with good photo prospects Harkapur village Today, we pass through deep gorges punctuated with exciting rapids unfolding pleasant floats troops of Langur and Rhesus monkeys can be seen romping the riverbanks.

Day 07: Harkapur village – Rai Ghat (6 hours)
Today is one of the most exciting and challenging days of the expedition encountering some very demanding rapids, we pass through ‘Bridge rapids’ and ‘Krishna rapids’ stopping to carefully plan our strategy through the next rapids. Floating past the confluence of the Dudh Koshi, we hit the last rapid for the day, ‘Roller Coaster’ a hair rising rapid.

Day 08: Rai Ghat – Bander Ghat (6 hours)
Hold tight, the ride is not over yet. as past the point of Sap Su Khola is a rapid with the greatest drop Huge ‘holes’, ‘eddies’ and churning ‘stopper waves’ demands team work and hard paddle.

Day 09-10: Bander Ghat – Bonjur Ghat- Barahchhatra (12hours)
We take to the rapids again, busy all morning earnestly thanking for the lunch break, emerging from the Mardheku gorge the river spreads wide, less agitated after its confinement between steep cliffs and gorges. Today the whole stretch is a mixture of fun filled rapids and calm undulating floats, you are somewhat relived, yet sad that the trip is coming to an end, all good things ultimately does.

Day 11: Chatara-Kathmandu
Rafting adventure comes to the Check-out point. After lunch takes night bus to Kathmandu or drive to Biratnagar to take a flight back to Kathmandu.
