Tansen Palpa
Tansen Palpa, a colorful hill town is situated at an altitude of 1,450m. It is a Municipality and the administrative center of Palpa District in western Nepal. It is a small town located 125 kilometers from Pokhara in the Palpa district. It is located on the highway between Butwal and Pokhara, on the crest of the Mahabharat Range or Lesser Himalaya overlooking the valley of the Kaligandaki River to the north. The highway bypasses the town center on the west, protecting pedestrian amenities in the central maze of steep, narrow, winding alleys lined with Newari shop-Houses and temples.
Tansen was the capital of the Magar kingdom Tanahun, one of the most powerful regional principalities before the rise of the Shah dynasty. It is the most popular summer resort in western Nepal on account of its location and climate. It has the most extensive views of the country, the chief attraction the Himalaya; from Dhaulagiri in the west to Gaurishankar in the northeast. It takes just five hours by car from Pokhara to reach Tansen or just a couple of hours drive from Lumbini. Nearby Srinagar Danda (hill) offers a panoramic view of the high Himalaya.
From west to east, the Kanjiroba, Dhaulagiri, Annapurna, Mansiri, Ganesh and Langtang groups are in sight. Other nearby attractions include Ranighat, a Rana palace next to the Kaligandaki River, and Ridi Bazaar, a major Hindu pilgrimage destination at the auspicious confluence of the Kaligandaki and Ride Rivers. A large mela is held there on Maghe Sankranti. local Newars are known for traditional metalwork and producing Dhaka cloth used in traditional jackets and topis. The most important landmark is the octagonal Pavilion in the middle of Sitalpati, the main market square. Chatting to locals, you’ll find they’re fiercely proud of their hometown, which no doubt stems from its rich history during the glory years as the capital of the Magar kingdom of Tanahun.

Plan Holidays did a fantastic job on our whole trip! We did the trip that included time in Kathmandu, Pokhara, Chitwan National Park and a 5-day trek around Annapurna. From the moment we stepped off the plane, we had guides showing us around and everything was perfectly planned for us. Maila, our trekking guide was amazing and had so much knowledge! It was a great trip!

I had a wonderful experience
I recently booked a tour with Plan Holidays, and I had a wonderful experience. Anuja scheduled the tour, and it was comforting to have our trip covered without any concerns. Our guide Shiva took us through Kathmandu, and showed all us the highlights of the city and provided us with the cultural and historical background. We also did the Poon Hill Trek with guides Chitiz and Ashmir, who provided a peaceful hike through the Himalayas. On our last two days, we spent time in Chitwan National Park, where our guide, Robin, took us on adventures where we saw crocodiles and rhinos. The entire package was affordable, and our guides met our every need; they went out of their way for us on many occasions. It was comforting to get off the bus and see our guides waiting for us with our name tags. I would highly encourage anyone to book a trip through this company. I promise that you will have an amazing experience--five stars!
