Daman
Daman is a small village, marketplace, and tourist attraction in Thaha Municipality, Makwanpur District, central Nepal. It is a hilly area having a plethora of tourism potential. So it has become the worldwide popular destination among tourist. As with most destinations in Nepal, it is located in a region that is surrounded by natural splendor and characteristics that are unique to the village.
Daman has among the greatest views of the Himalayas, extending on a good day from Dhaulagiri in the west to Mount Everest in the east. For those seeking the ultimate pan Himalayan view, Daman is the place to visit. Located 80kms southwest of the Kathmandu valley, Daman (2,400m) offers the only unimpeded view of the entire Himalayan range. Marvel at the breathtaking grandeur of the world’s highest peaks extending from Dhaulagiri in the west to Mount Everest in the east. Daman is located on the Tribhuvan Highway between Kathmandu and the town of Birgunj. There is a view tower fitted with long range telescopes.
The village lies on the outskirts of Kathmandu, it provides a great opportunity for the people residing in Kathmandu to observe its beauty and use it for means of recreation. There is the religious site near called Risheshor. The main festival occurs in Fagu purnima. There is a Botanical garden, comprise over 78 hectares of forest in Daman. February to March is the best time to visit when the rhododendrons (the national flower of Nepal) are in bloom.
