Everest base camp trekking from Nepal side ( also known as south base camp) is a trek of 12 nights 13 days from Kathmandu to Kathmandu, takes you at an Altitude of 5,364 meters (17,598 ft) at the base camp. Then you will further climb to Kalapattar at an altitude of 5545m.
This trek offers amazing views of Everest (8,848m), Lhotse (8,511m), Nuptse (7,879m), Ama Dablam (6,856m), Thamserku (6,623m) & many more. You will take 45 minutes flight from Kathmandu to Lukla, then you will walk upward to Namche Bazaar, the famous center for trading food, trekking equipment, etc. Normally you will have to acclimatize 2 days here, then slowly you will gain the altitude & walk towards Tengboche & to Everest base camp & Kalapattar ( 5545m).
Flora & Fauna found in the Everest base camp trekking areas; pine and hemlock forests, white fir, juniper, birch and rhododendron, scrub and alpine plant communities are common at the higher altitude. The Everest national park is home to the red panda, snow leopard, musk deer, Himalayan tahr, marten, Himalayan mouse hare (pika) and over 118 species of bird including the Impeyan pheasant, snow cock, blood pheasant, red-billed cough, etc.

- DAY 01: ARRIVAL IN KATHMANDU. ( D)
- Meet at the airport and transfer to hotel. Enjoy Nepali welcome dinner with folk dance performances.
- DAY 02: SIGHTSEEING OF KATHMANDU. ( B)
- You will visit Pashupatinath temple, Boudhanath Stupa and Bhaktapur. Overnight hotel in Kathmandu.
- DAY 03: FLY FROM KATHMANDU TO LUKLA , TREK TO PHAKDING (2800M) . ( B+ L +D)
- Wake up earlier around 5.30am .You will have tea/coffee with your packed breakfast . After breakfast we check out the hotel taking your luggage. You will be picked up by our office staff or guide to take you to Domestic airport for fly to Lukla . This drive will take 20-25 minutes to the Domestic airport. Hopefully you have great weather so there would be no cancellations of the Lukla flights. Board on a flight , 45min fly to Lukla .In clear day , this would be offering you magnificent views of river valleys, Mountains , lush green forest , villages . Mahabharat Range mountains & Himalayan Range mountains .Himalayas that are seen on board are : Numbur , Gaurishanker , Ganesh Himal , Dorje Lakpa , Langtang Shishapangma , Phurbi Ghyachu , Amadabam could be seen . Lukla is most important place & gateway to Everest Expeditions & Everest Trekking .For people who does not have longer holidays they save 1 week by taking flight to Lukla from Kathmandu ,instead of taking the trekking route from Jiri.It is situated at 2860m (9383ft) , having a airstrip , it has changed its face , becoming a town over the last few years time due to the influx of Trekkers . Lukla Airport, named as Tenzing -Hillary Airport in 2008 , is very popular as it is start point to Mount Everest .The runway of airstrip is 460m by 20m (1510 by 66 ft)with 12% gradient .The elevation of airport is 2800m (9200ft). You will meet porters & Sherpas waiting for you at the airport. You will be greeted with smiles. Depending upon your flight arrival time, we will plan your meals. if you arrived in time & weather favored you, you will be arrived in Lukla around 9-10 o'clock in the morning. Sometimes it may take longer, & flight could be delayed too.You will be transferred to a lodge nearby about 5-10 min walk .You will have tea/coffee . Guide will brief about the plan of the day. Your luggage would be sorted out & divided to porters . You will have to separate your things for your day pack. Your luggage would be with the porters, they will carry your luggage & it will be available to you in the evening, at the lodge where you will overnight. You will set out from Lukla ,for Phakding Gradual downs -1 hours walk through jungle . Then arrive at Chaurikharka Village , a Sherpa village. In clear day you can see Numbur Himal from here. You will pass Chorten , Mani Wall ( prayers inscribed on the stone ) .After an hour Short ups & Short downs walk you will arrive at THADOKOSHI River . Cross suspension bridge , then walk to GHAT village. Ghat villages - you will see Mani walls , Terraces field , & many chortens around this villages. From THADOKOSHI river where you can have splendid view of Kusum Kangaru (6370m) . After 1 and half hours walk from Ghat village You will reach at Phakding village . - DAY 04: PHAKDING-NACHEBAZAAR (11,286FT,3440M), ( B+ L +D)
- After breakfast, your trek continues from Phakding. While crossing the suspension bridge over Dudh Koshi river, the trail is pleasant with a few short uphill & then downhill, crossing the view with the magnificent peak of Thamserku(6608m). You will cross a long suspension bridge again near Benkar village, after half an hour walk you arrive at Manjo. After a few minute’s walks, you will arrive at the Sagarmatha National Park checkpoint. After the checkpoint, you have a short descent to Jaorsale Village, It is the last village where you can still shop until Namche. From here the trail goes steeply upward, there would be no shops found other places on the route until Namche. You will continue trek by the river until the last bridge over the Imjatse river is reached. From here the road goes up winding uphill all the way until Namche Bazaar. As you climb higher you will have a view of Kwangde Peak, Kusum Kangaru & there are also views of Mt Everest – Nutse, Lhotse & Tawache peak. All the view is possible until Thop Danda. There will be still 1 -2 hours walk before arriving famous Namche, the Sherpa capital village. Namche Bazaar is an economic hub of sherpas, trekkers & local vendors. Traditionally the Namche village used to be a trading post with locals bartering yak cheese & butter for agricultural goods grown at a lower altitude. It is the places where trekkers stopover for at least two overnights for acclimatization. There are many lodges, restaurants, Shops & internet cafes . On Saturday morning there is open market where Chinese daily household goods & clothing are main article of the market.
- DAY 05 : ACCLIMATIZATION DAY AT NAMCHEBAZAR (11,286FT,3440M), ( B+ L +D)
- This day can be spent relaxing at lodge, exploring the tiny shops in the bazaar and the local museum with exhibits of the flora, fauna, and history of the Everest region. We recommend you to take walk up to Everest view hotel . You will have spectacular view of Everest , Lhotse & Amadablam . You can also participate in an optional hike to some of the Sherpa villages of Khumjung, which will take 2 hours to reach then after short walk you reach Khunde village , then get back to Namche.
- DAY 06: NAMCHE-TENGBOCHE (3867M/ 12,690 FT). (B+ L +D)
- Namche to Tengboche distance is 19km (12 miles) . You will trek today about 6 hours . After breakfast around 8 am, , start the trek , Pleasant Trail --2 hours to Kenjuma. then Steep down 1 hour to Lausasa village. What to see in Lausasa ? you can see Mani walls , Pine Forest , Conifer trees & Rhododendron Trees .Cross suspension bridge at Phungetaga , have lunch . Trek Steep up 2 hours to Tengboche . Tengboche Village located at an altitude of 3867m (12,690ft). It has a largest Gompa of the Khumbu Region .Tengboche is situated on a hill at the confluence of Dudhkoshi river & Imja Khola river. You can see the views of Everest , Nustse , Lhotse , Thamserku & Amadablam from Tengboche
- DAY 07 : TENGBOCHE-DINGBOCHE (4,530 M ,14,800 FT) ( B+ L +D)
- Distance Tengboche to Dingboche is 9.5km ( 5 miles) , 4-5 hours walk 15minutes walk through Short down to Dibuche village . then 1 hour gradual up to Pangboche. From Pangboche to Samare ( 1hour) , lunch at Samare , then gradual up 2 hours to Dingboche. The early part of the day is spent walking through lush rhododendron and pine forests. We eventually emerge above the tree line and continue for the rest of the day up the glacial valley until we reach Dingboche at (4252m). En route we see some of the area's most beautifully carved mani (prayer) stones. Dingboche village is situated at an altitude of 4530m ( 14,800 ft) in Chhukhung Valley.Among trekkers .it is a popular place where they spent two nights for acclimatizing purpose.It is dependant on tourism . There are internet facilities available here. The long stone wall is seen in Dingboche ,which covers all valley of Imja river .
- DAY 08: DINGBOCHE ACCLIMATIZATION (NAGARTSANG PEAK 5400M)
- Today we will spend day for adapting altitude. We climb to Nagartsang Peak at 5400m. The ascent & descent would take about 3-4 hours’ time .you have the great views of the Lhotse, Tawache , Amadablam ,Chalotse & Makalu. Dinner & overnight .
- DAY 09: DINGBOCHE-LOBUCHE( B+ L +D)
- 5 hours trek to Lobuche ;Generally it takes following hours time ,Dingboche-Yakkharka -1 hour --Gradual up ,Tugla -1 Hour--Gradual up Tugla - Steep up 1- 1/2 hour ,Memorial -Chorten in the memory of Everest climbers who died during expeditions & Gradual up -1-1/2 to Lobuche . The trail from Dingboche starts , after 25 minutes you reach a chorten . While climbing the Pheriche valley you will see the giant looking Tabuche peak to name , but there are many glacial peaks .It is a short but steep climb up to Lobuche (4930m), which is really just a few huts at the foot of giant Lobuche peak. Again the views are spectacular and the sunset on Nuptse, towering directly ahead of Lobuche is especially impressive.
- DAY 10: LOBUCHE-EVEREST BASE CAMP -GORAKSEP( B+ L +D)
- On this day we walk along the Khumbu Glacier and up to Everest Base Camp at 5380m, the closest you can get to Mt. Everest without mountaineering equipment. There will likely be a team there about to attempt the summit. The view of the Khumbu Icefall from Base Camp is spectacular. We return down to Gorakshep ,overnight at Gorakshep.
- DAY 11: GORAKSHEP-KALAPATTAR- PHERICHE( B+ L +D)
- This will be one of the most difficult yet rewarding days of the trek. Most of this day is spent climbing Mt. Kala Pattar, a small peak (by Himalayan standards) at 5545m. The ascent is demanding but the climber gets the most magnificent mountain panorama possible: Everest, the highest point on the planet at 8848m, towers directly ahead and on all sides loom the other giants, Nuptse, Pumori, Chagatse, Lhotse and countless others. If possible we can stay and watch the awe-inspiring sunset on Everest and its neighbors. Then descent down to Pheriche .
- DAY 12: PHERICHE- DIBUCHE( B+ L +D)
- From Lobuche we take a slightly different route down to Upper Pangboche. Here is the oldest monastery in this region, which once contained what was said to be the scalp and bones of a Yeti, or abominable snowman!
- DAY 13: DIBUCHE-MANJO( B+ L +D)
- From Upper Pangboche we descend to join the main trail above Tengboche and continue on down to Namche.
- DAY 14: MANJO-LUKLA( B+ L +D)
- From Namche we continue our descent to Lukla.
- DAY 15: LUKLA-KATHMANDU ( B)
- An early morning flight takes us back to Kathmandu, and gives us a last view of the mountains we have just spent two weeks exploring.
