Chitwan National Park

Chitwan National park having land of 932kmsq is subtropical lowland located in the south central Nepal, 165 km away from Kathmandu. It is famous for the jungle safaris since 1984 when it was granted UNESCO World Heritage Site status. The Park has 70 % Sal forest, 20% Grasslands & 10 % bushes.

There are about 50 different types of grasses including Elephant grass ( Saccharum spp) could grow up to 9m in height.Chitwan is considered to have the highest population density of sloth bears with an estimated 200 to 250 individuals.As regards to wildlifes & birds in the park concerns, there are 68 species of Mammals, 544 species of Birds ,56 species of herpes to fauna & 126 species of fish.

The park is renowned for one horned Rhinoceros, Royal Bengal Tiger & Gharial Crocodiles. Other wildlife found in the park are Wild elephant, Four horned antelope, Pangolin, Golden monitor lizard, Python, Bengal florican, Lesser florican, Giant hornbill, Black stork, While stork, etc.
