Gantey-Gogona Nature-Cultural Trek

Gantey-Gogona Nature-Cultural Trek journey begins in Bhutan, Paro- the capital of Bhutan-the country of the peaceful dragon. The trek visits the nomadic villages of Gogona and Khotokha passing through meadows, fields, through forests of Juniper, Magnolia and rhododendrons finally descending to sub-tropical vegetation in Punakha and Wangdi valley. It is a combination of cultural and moderate nature trekking trip. This is one of the finest low-level treks in Bhutan.

The best month for this trek is from April to early May when the weather is excellent and the trail becomes colorful with rhododendrons flower all over. The Valley of Gangtey is one of the most beautiful places in Bhutan and is also the home to rare black-necked cranes. As the name suggests we visit three major places Gangtey, Gaogona and Khotakha during this trek and it can be referred as camping trekking except at hotel stay in Paro and Thimpu. The Trek mainly focuses more on natural and wildlife sceneries of Bhutan with exclusive cultural sightseeing opportunity at Paro and Thimpu. You will visit the monasteries and Dzongs of Bhutan.

Dzongs are mighty fortresses with exterior walls enclosing a complex of temples, administrative offices, monks accommodation, and courtyards. Dzongs were frequently built on a hilltop or mountain spur. If the dzong is built on the side of a valley wall, a smaller dzong or watchtower. Most famous landmark of Bhutan, Tigernest, the Takstang Monastery visit on foot is in the plan. Visit Trashigang Dzong (1659), also termed as Sky Dzong overlooking Dangmechu river.

Trashiyangtse has Chorten Kora, a Boudhanath Stupa of Nepal Modeled Chorten. Mongar Town is a settlement on top of the hill, main business place in eastern Bhutan, visit Mongar Dzong, newly built Dzong, Zhongar Dzong, Dramitse Lhakhang, AjaNey, sacred site of a Rock. Visit some of the other villages in the area including Jambay, Kurjey and Thangbi Lhakhangs and the castle of the White Bird. In Trongsa visit Ta Dzong which is now a temple dedicated to the legendary Ling Gesar and stroll around the small town.
